Curacao’s Flag Day & America’s Independence Day

Celebrating in a new way...

July 5, 2018

We are already more than halfway through our time in Curacao!

We’ve spent most of our time here wandering through the streets of Willemstad. We love it! It is a colorful town filled with street art! Some of it has even been done with sculpture incorporated into it! SO cool!

Unfortunately because of our schedule, we missed most of Curacao’s Flag Day festival, but we still got to head out during the evening and caught an AMAZING calypso concert!

For our 4th of July (American Independence Day!), we set out on a lonnnng stroll around the island. Along the coast we discovered some of the most gorgeous beaches we had ever seen and found a quiet little resort town. Later in the evening we finally had the opportunity to try out some of the local cuisine.. and YUM! Curacao has some seriously good eats!

Today we explored Otrobanda, the neighborhood we are staying in and did a little shopping at the local stores. I am not usually much into shopping, but we did not plan for or pack properly for our upcoming destination. (which we are SO excited about – to be revealed soon!) Another cool thing: while shopping I also got to put my Spanish courses to good use and practice with some locals! 😀
